About Us / Company Info Growing up in New England, you could take eating fresh Maine lobster, steamed Ipswich clams, and anything from broiled scallops, mussels marinara, or freshly shucked raw oysters and little neck clams, and many other types of seafood for granted -- knowing a fresh catch would be pulled from the beaches and waters off the coast of Cape Cod, (and other cold water Atlantic fisheries), the next day. If you've ever had a New England Clambake, or eaten Maine Lobster, you may already know that there are many different types of lobster. The American Lobster, (Homarus americanus), which is more commonly known as a Maine Lobster thrives in the cold shallow waters off the coast of Maine, New Hampshire and Massachusetts, (and in decreasing numbers further north and south). These lobsters are distinct from their relatives which include Rock Lobsters or California Spiny Lobster, Slipper Lobsters, Langostinos and other seafood, which despite their names are not true lobsters, (and are more correctly classified as crabs -- and the taste and consistency of their meat is much different than real lobster).
"...there is nothing like a fresh Maine Lobster or a New England Clambake!"
After traveling to Florida and ordering a "lobster dinner", the founder of www.OvernightLiveLobster.com was disappointed with what he was served; rock lobster tails, (which are more like large crayfish and come from the warm waters off the coast of the Bahamas, Brazil, Taiwan and other warm water fishing areas). When he returned home to New England, he discussed the idea with family and friends, many who had the same experience -- either traveling or moving to other parts of the country, and being unable to get fresh New England seafood... so the idea for www.OvernightLiveLobster.com was born; a company which partnered directly with local lobster pools and fish markets that could deliver native fresh lobster, shellfish and seafood overnight to anywhere in the USA. |
